1963 Mapperley Farm

Photo of the Farm taken by me from the Orchard

1963

Photo taken on Boxing Day 1963 in the dining room of No 1 Mapperley and is to my knowledge the last picture of Mary Hill my grandmother. From Left to right: - Mary Hill, Molly Hill and my mother Gladys Hill.

1965

Charles with Henry Hill bailing in Bottom Court Close.
This is the field adjacent to the place where the cattle used to drink from Mapperley pond many years ago.

1967

Photo taken in the garden of No 1 Mapperley looking over to the school.

1971

This is the last photo I have of Charles Hill and Henry together.

When the farm was sold in 1968 Henry went to be the farm manager at Mountford House School on Simon Lane. Gladys Hill also worked there as the cook and for a short time my sister Barbara also worked there.

It was taken at Amroth in South Wales. They were staying with the three ladies from Mountford House School (North End) who had a cottage on the sea front at Amroth.

1981

To me this photo looks like Breadsall Priory and the NFU Dinners were normally held at the Regency Rooms. Henry is pictured with Keith and Sheila Parkinson of Manor Farm. I am unsure as to who the other lady is. Maybe Shelia Parkinson could throw some light onto that, the year and the venue.

More  information from Sheila Parkinson:- The event was The South Notts Hunt Ball at Breadsall Priory. The lady in the centre was a waitress. Date to follow
