1955

A Photo of my Mother Gladys and Grandmother Mary Hill with the old Wolsley behind at Mapperley Farm Gate.
My Mother used to clean at the Farm on a Sunday and my Grandmother used to run her back home to High Lane Central.

1956

As with a lot of the photos I am not exactly sure of the year, but I think this is about 1956 or '58.

It is a photo of the annual Sunday School Anniversary Service held in the Afternoon and early evening once a year at Mapperley Methodist Chapel. A few names on this one to jog some memories.

1958

This is a photo of me holding my favourite cow Spotty. She was one of the few that passed the TT (Tuberculin Testing)
Sadly she had to go and a complete new herd of cows were purchased after modernising the cow sheds.

1960

A photo of Mary Hill, Gladys Hill and Spot my favourite Sheep dog outside the old dairy at the Farm

1961

My Sister Barbara Hill, me and my Mother in our Sunday best for the 1961 Mapperley Methodist Sunday School Anniversary.

We are again in the garden of No 1 Mapperley, this time with the Lodge House of Elsie Saxton in the background.

At the Anniversary Service I was doing the poem for the Collection Piece, which basically encourages the assembled worshipers to part with some money. In my jacket pocket I had a highly polished penny. I was supposed to take the penny out of my pocket and say “Look here is a lovely new penny which mother has given to me, oh no I’m not going to spend it, it’s for the Anniversary you see”. Unfortunately I couldn’t find which pocket I had put the penny in. After a rather long pause I did manage to find it though. At the end of the service Mother made it known that she was none too pleased with my unfortunate lapse of memory.
