P3BRAMCOTE RECORDS BROKEN

Records were broken by J. Gibbons, J. Crane, K Faulkner and V. Rawding in the Bramcote Hills Secondary Modern School's annual sports. House champions were Scott with 153 ½ pts.

MORE HEANER SIGNINGS

Heanor Town manager-coach Sammy Crooks has signed three more players for the club. They are ex-Notts County goalkeeper, Richard Twigg (19) and former Stoke City forwards John Clowes (26) and Stanley Bevans (24).
Last season both Clowes and Bevans were with Cheshire Lge side Macclesfield.

RECORD FOR COLLINS.

Riding in the Nottm. Wheelers open 25 miles event Erewash Valley Road Club rider Mervyn Collins broke the club record with a time of 1 hr. 0 min. 45 sec. In a five miles event at Bilborough, Barry Minchin gained third place, beating such stars as Gordon Ian and Ray Booty. Apart from racing the Road Club's senior section visited the Bradgate Park. Club night is now Tuesday at the Rose and Crown, church Street.

TWO SHARE TROPHY

Mary Skelston was Victrix Nandi & R. Flint was Victor Nandi in the Ilkeston Grammar School Swimming Gala. Roth had 17 pts. to share the Edgar Waterhouse Memorial Trophy. Silver medals went to P. Broadhurst, M. Gough, and K. Hooley, and bronze medal winners were E. Pringle and D. King. House champions were Chatsworth with 96 pts. Trophies were presented by Ilkeston Baths Superintendent, Mrs. W. Murden.

VICTORY FOR GREEN

Green House won the Cavendish Girls' School Swimming Gala with 39 ½ pts. Second were Blue with 38, third were White with 30 ½ and last Red with 11. Trophies were presented by the Mayor of Ilkeston, Coun. J. Simpson.

MORE FASTENER BOWLS WIN

Carr Fastener Bowls Club beat Toton Lane by 87 shots to 67 in a friendly match at Toton. Fastener also had another win when they beat Long Eaton west Park by 102 shots to 76 in a friendly match at Stapleford.

VICE CHAIRMAN PRESENTS TROPHIES

Coun, H. Fisher, vice chairman of the governors, presented trophies at the Hallcroft Boys' School Swimming Gala when Athenians were champion house with 57 pts. Silver medals went to P. Booth and E. Wood and bronze medals to D. Jones, D. Dean, J. Manton and C. Moss.

HOMING NEWS

Chambers and Son gained second place in all north sections of the Great North Road Combine homing event, and they also took, first place in the Ilkeston section. Several other local pigeon fanciers finished prominently to secure prize money.

F.A. CUP AT BRAMCOTE

The F.A. Cup was on show at Bramcote on Sunday when Nottm. Forest F.C. played Bramcote in a charity cricket match. A large crowd watched the game and about £29 was raised for a spastics fund. The result was a draw.

ROAD CLUB VISITS LICHFIELD

The Erewash Valley Road Club's latest tour was along Derbys, Staffs and Leics lanes to Lichfield and Draycott-in-the-Clay. A club 10 mile event was won by M. Collins in 25 min. 47 secs. J. Jeffries was second.

The offices of the "Pioneer” will be closed on Monday, August 3rd  1959.
